Day 7 - Disneyland

Writing a short (or long) blog post while standing in line for a ride seems to be a reasonable way to spend the time. We arrived around 9:00 and used tickets that Bridget purchased online. Some sort of online special of three days for the price of two. The first ride broke down while we waited so we picked up a FastPass for later in the day. This was Indiana Jones.

We practically walked onto Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion. Very short lines. After a delicious breakfast/snack of grilled cheese and tomato basil soup, we went back to try again using the FastPass. The ride broke down again when we were almost ready to board. They got it running again then it broke down again just after we got back to the boarding area at the end of the ride. We were led off the ride by walking a short way along the side of the track. Not a good day for that ride.

No FastPass for the It’s a Small World ride. I think it was about 40 minutes of listening to the same music. But it’s Disneyland so you put up with it.

We watched a musical show then on to lunch. This place is pretty crowded due to Spring Break. Poor planning on our part. But since this isn’t our first visit, there is no pressure to see/ride anything. We are catching our shuttle back to the campground at 4:30 so we are not going to be closing the park.

We went into the President exhibit expecting Great Moments With Abraham Lincoln but watched a preview of the new live action Dumbo movie coming out later this month.

Back to the RV park by 4:45. Time to relax w/ibuprofen...

  1. Ah yes, Vitamin I after a day of walking about Disneyland....I remember thinking the park looked "tired" to my adult eyes when we took our boys to it for their first time.

    1. Vitamin I, I like that term. There was a lot of walking but not record breaking amounts. I think I hit something like 12K steps. For some people, that would be a light day. There was a lot of renovation going on. The castle was covered with scaffolding and they are building a new Star Wars world. Some of the attractions are definitely dated but not necessarily tired. What has changed over the last 50 years are the number of motorized scooters. No longer human powered wheel chairs, these people power their way through crowds beeping their horns. Not all of them but a significant portion.

  2. I found out at a young age that my stomach didn't agree with some of the rides offered in amusement parks so I stayed away from it for the rest of my life. Did I miss out on something...?

    1. I have little interest in amusement parks. But theme parks are different. There are rides but the ambiance is what’s different. I enjoy that.
