Day 32 - Newport, OR - TT

It was raining this morning and has continued to rain for most of the day. My only activity was to enjoy the indoor pool and jacuzzi. I went mid-afternoon and was the only one there. Pretty nice…

We’ve been able to keep the RV warm using just the electric heater that we picked up at Walmart (I think). The propane furnace rarely comes on which helps with our propane use. One new concern is whether we should get a dehumidifier. The inside of the windows have moisture on them. Especially after cooking.

  1. Keeping glass dry when camping in cold is a challenge too and I found that cracking the ceiling vents to allow warm humid air to escape while drawing in dry outside air kept window moisture and ice buildup to a minimum. Makes the furnace work harder and impacts propane consumption but also keeps indoor air fresher. But if the outside air is humid then I'd guess that tactic would not work.

    1. It’s been pretty humid outside. I was thinking of a dehumidifier to try and minimize any mold inside the trailer. Especially on days like we’ve been having lately.

  2. I've not found a solution yet either re moisture on the windows after a night of using the catalytic heater. An electric dehumidifier might be an option for you as you've much more battery capacity....not for me.

    1. Since they have either an electric heating element or a compressor, I don’t see one being used off of battery power.
