On the Road, Again...

Less than 24 hours from returning from Utqiaġvik, I am heading off again. Since there is very long (over six hour) layover in Seattle, we opted to try out the new Alaska Airlines lounge in the South Terminal. It has only been open a week. It has a great view of the runway, lots of comfy chairs, free food, and drinks. I had pancakes and veggie chili for lunch and a chicken salad for dinner. Plus a couple of “healthy” oatmeal raisin cookies. A latte in the afternoon as I thought that it may ease my throat. This cough and cold is lingering on. The next flight is a night flight arriving in Atlanta at 5:15 in the morning. Ugh… at least we have been partially upgraded. Something that Alaska Air calls “Premium Class”. Free drinks, a bit more legroom, and more snacks. It’s something.

  1. Nice looking lounge has a bit of the unfinished rough-in look, I like it, will have to check it out next time we're at seatac. Rumor has it you are inspecting six wheels. In other news Tim has pressured me to grant his car desires and car will be leaving to his abode nxt Tue. Have fun on the inspection tour. Be merciless, there are always other fish.

    1. Very nicely done lounge. We don’t have a membership but just pay for a day pass but the six hour layover makes it worthwhile.

  2. Summer flus always like to linger... it really sucks when it happens. Take care and be better soon, Richard.

    1. It’s been hanging on for a couple of weeks. I don’t think all that smoke helped.

  3. Hope you're feeling better, nice lounge....I still hate the idea of flying...all the crowds, the waiting, the cramped seating, trapped in a steel tube with everyone else's halitosis...

    1. Yep, hate flying but if you live in AK, it’s almost inevitable that you need to get on a plane.

  4. Seem to have trouble posting a comment from Safari. Will try again from good old Chrome. Please excuse any multiple posts. Let's see if I can remember what I said.

Flying. And airports. I enjoy flying despite the crowds and wait. At least things are reasonably quiet and not like a concert or party. And there's a lot to look at.

What I don't like is no place to rest, lie down, sleep. Especially during long layovers in the middle of long flights. Why can't airports have some of those little tube hotels like they have in Japan?

The Alaska Airlines lounge looks like a fine place to relax. I could definitely sleep there.

    1. I gave up trying to comment with Safari. The Alaska Airlines lounge was pretty nice. It was worth the $50 for the two of us. We didn’t need to buy lunch or dinner and comfortable places to relax.
