Something Different

How about a non-solar post. Not bike related though I did go for a short ride earlier this week. No photos so maybe it really didn't happen…

I'm not sure why so many riders want to get here but this is the wonderful view of Deadhorse. The flight to Utqiaġvik stops here to add/remove passengers. It's usually a pretty full flight but wasn't too bad this morning. The worst part is the 6 am flight to Anchorage before switching planes to head north. I guess there isn't enough traffic in/out of Fairbanks any more.

This is a very short trip as I'm just dragging a couple of technicians up from Fairbanks to familiarize them with the installed infrastructure that they will be supporting this summer during our road trip.

  1. "I'm not sure why so many riders want to get here...Deadhorse." Bragging rights?

I'd love to ride to--and ride--Alaska, but for the scenery, the overall experience, and to meet people. (Braggarts can be bores...)

    1. Bragging rights? Maybe... But there have been so many accidents. I think that there are a lot of other places with incredible scenery.

  2. Nice view from the plane. I really want to see Alaska, but riding it isn't on my bucket list. We are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary with and land and cruise to Alaska in September. Really looking forward to it, but our RV trip coming up in April has most of our attention right now.

    1. This is actually just sitting at the Deadhorse airport. I've met several people who've ridden up and were flying back to Fairbanks rather than put up with the road. September is a pretty good month. August could be wet but it usually clears up with some nice, sunny days in September. My road trip starts in about 6 weeks...
