Back Inside...

The Ural made it back into the garage after about ten days of being banished to the snow bank outside to make room for the truck. No issues starting up after cranking for around five seconds or so. Kind of like the carb bowls were empty and I didn't give them time to fill up while on the prime position. I should be able to start riding again on a regular basis by the end of the month.

Below zero (°F) are still being forecast for at least the next ten days so not a lot of chance of getting out much until after the first official day of "spring". Today is another clear and sunny day but the -22°F temperature still says winter though it had warmed up to 7°F by mid-day.

  1. Impressive performance for the battery! Did you perchance note the voltage on it after sitting outside for so many days? Running 5w50?

    1. I don't have a real voltmeter on the Ural, just a series of LED lights. And running 15w40 oil not very light. It had warmed up to about +10°F when I started the rig so the battery did do really well. Better than I had expected especially since I didn't run it very long when I had moved it out of the garage. Nothing fancy. It's the stock Ural battery from Jed's 2015. I replaced my battery with his relatively new one in the fall of 2015.

  2. Now I feel spoiled with 55˚F and rain.

I bet the Ural gave a nice sigh when it went back inside.

    1. I think I did hear a sigh. Or maybe something else broke...

  3. The Honda Shadow has been sitting in a dry and 35-40F indoor garage since late December. I don't think that it will start without a boost.

That boost will come courtesy of the Vespa which fired up without as much as a moment's hesitation.

    1. I thought our 50°F garage was cold. Or at least cold for me to work in...
