I walked 5 miles this morning in the snow and this evening, I tried running. It wasn't as slippery as I thought it would be. I figured that this was about the last day to get in some distance. Everything I've read has suggested moderate runs for the last week before "a run". I know that it's only three miles and a bit but I haven't entered anything resembling exercise in over 25 years so it's a big deal for me. I'm still recuperating from my last trip to Barrow. Didn't get enough exercise in and ate too much (as usual). Since I'm heading up there again, I really need to come up with a strategy to cope. Just because it's "all you can eat" I shouldn't consider it a challenge or a command. I'm hoping that things will be so busy and hectic that there just won't be time.
I noticed that my lower legs are sore this evening and all I can attribute it to is uncertain footing due to the snow. It wasn't to slippery but my footing was rarely as secure as usual. Normally, I can relax once I get going but wasn't able to do that this evening. I hope things clear up by next Saturday. 26k steps today to make up for the lax day yesterday.
Hi, Richard.
ReplyDeleteRe "all you can eat," do they have small plates, like dessert or salad plates? Use a small plate for your main meal. And make a point of leaving some of everything. That may not be a problem for you, but I'm in the habit of finishing everything on my plate, just because it's there.

Good idea. I usually get a large bowl for salad and a plate but maybe I'll start taking small bowl for entree. Thank you for the suggestion.
