Post Fall

Fall has pretty much come and gone so now we are just waiting for the snow to arrive. It has been pretty dreary for the last week or so with just occasional bits of blue sky. The Ural has been plugging away but just running to College Coffeehouse in the morning followed by errands around town. No recreational riding. I'm still waiting for the Roadcrafter to get back from Aerostitch so riding in the rain isn't as nice as it could be. They estimated a minimum of three weeks which is right about now. I'm also still waiting for the trailer to get repaired after dropping it off about a month ago at a local RV shop. Maybe I should look at it as free storage.

This picture is of a friends Suzuki GSX-R that he has set up for moto-camping. He used to race the bike but rather than get rid of the bike, he added homemade aluminum racks to carry his gear. It's a nice setup though I'm not sure how comfortable it would be but that's just me. He loves the bike and that's all that really matters.

  1. In the thumbnail the Suzuki looks like it has been equipped by LEGO ;-)

I am still hoping for a half decent phase of autumn in our neck of the woods. I am not ready for winter just yet.

    1. That's from the gas containers on each side of the rack. There is snow in the short term forecast.

  2. Only 4 full days of fall and it is done already? Bummer. The GSX-R looks interesting, wonder how it would handle?

    1. Yep. Soon it'll be winter for the next six months or so...

  3. That's definitely a positive spin on the length of time its taking to fix the valves on the camper....free storage. Will you be keeping it at home or in storage yard nearby?

    1. I'd prefer to store it at home but if there is snow/ice on the driveway, I probably can't get the trailer into the driveway.

  4. A month of waiting for a repair with parts shipped up to Alaska doesn't sound that bad to me. Maybe it would be worse if I was the one waiting. I hate waiting!

The riding position of the Suzuki would have never agreed with me,
even when I was younger. But, I applaud him for for being creative.

    1. I don't think that I could ever get used to that riding position.

A month for shipping is ridiculous in these days of Amazon Prime...

  5. We as motorcyclists should probably use the word Autumn instead of Fall when referring to seasons. Title caught my attention, and I'm glad you're okay, get back up and ride. ;)

    1. That never even occurred to me. I guess I’ve been riding the Ural long enough to not think about falling.

  6. Your friend's GSX-R, proving once again that ANY bike can be an "adventure" bike (it's all about PERSONAL definitions). I love it!
