Endeavour

Today, we went to Exposition Park to see Endeavour, the shuttle that went to Los Angeles. As you can see, they built an addition to the California Science Center to house it. There was some great video of it's trip through Los Angeles from the airport to it's new home next to the Coliseum. We also saw a 3D Imax movie about the repair of the Hubble Space Telescope.

After the movie, we started the slow trip up the Harbor Freeway during rush hour. I think we averaged 6 mph. We stopped at Universal Studios for dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe then wandered around the shopping and entertainment street. A good day!

Both pano shots done with the iPhone built-in software.

I noticed that you are getting used to the traffic. I don't think we have ever eaten at a Hard Rock Cafe. Must not have been good as you didn't post any food photo, or perhaps it was so good that it was eaten before you had a chance to dig out your camera.

Looks like you're having fun playing tourist and relaxing

    1. I don't think anyone can get used to L.A. traffic. It's something that's tolerated at best.

The food at a Hard Rock Cafe is decent enough. I just had a margherita pizza (excellent thin crust) and "grown-up" mac&cheese. Not too photogenic.

  2. Wow, a full day. I like that there are people in the pic of the Endeavor so we have a reference for size - huge.

    1. It was nice to see the space shuttle again as I've seen it numerous times in the past during construction and initial tests (Enterprise) and pre-flight (Columbia). I really enjoyed the exhibit.

  3. I'd hate to have to deal with such traffic on a daily basis....in your case, its a reminder of much nicer things are in terms of traffic up in Fairbanks. I saw the Space Shuttle in VA, very majestic.

    1. I used to deal with this traffic for years and finally got fed up with the weather, traffic and crowds and moved.

In VA, is this the one at the Smithsonian facility near Dulles?

    3. One of these days I'll get out there. Alaska airlines stopped flying into Dulles so we rarely get out there anymore.

  4. Wow, great pano shots! And stunning quality given that was "just" the iPhone camera.

    1. Thank you! I'm satisfied with the pano results and it's easier than stitching pictures together. Assuming that I remembered to lock exposure....
