On the Road Again

It's 11:00pm and I'm sitting in the Fairbanks airport getting ready for another trip. Contrary to the norm, this is an iPad photo instead of an iPhone photo. Supposedly lower resolution but I think it has a pretty good camera. This trip will be on the long-ish side as there will be two meetings back to back. The first is the Internet2 Global Summit in Denver, CO, and the second is the Polar Technology Conference at the Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.

After short layovers in Seattle, WA, and Salt Lake City, UT, I arrived in Denver, CO, around 9 hours after leaving Fairbanks. This is a photo just before landing in Salt Lake City looking northwest over the Great Salt Lake.

Dom aka Charlie6 from redlegsrides.blogspot.com arrived on his 2014 Ural at the airport to give me a ride to his home. I brought my helmet and my older FirstGear Kilimanjaro jacket as part of my carry on luggage though I did remove the armor from the elbows, back and shoulders for the flight. It made it a lot less bulky to carry and stuff into the overhead storage bins. He had put a luggage rack over the spare tire to carry my suitcase. I had only ridden a short distance before as a sidecar passenger so this would be a relatively new experience for me.

As you can see, there was weather coming into the area and we saw a little bit of precipitation before arriving at their home. The new rig seems much quieter than the 2011 model and it seemed to easily cruise at highway speeds. Below is my iPhone video.

I haven't spent much time in Denver for quite a while. There used to be meetings here in a regular basis but that was more in my management days. Looking forward to the time here.

I hear that you don't match Scarlett as well as I do.
