This is the view from the campground towards the Colorado River and Laughlin, NV. The large casinos are across the river on the Nevada side. The wind is from the north so it was blowing straight towards you while standing in this location.
By 6pm the wind seems to have died down.
Tuesday (39) - The sites here are pretty nice and it looks like we may need to extend our stay. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing as I like this rv park. Nice location, nice scenery, and I like the pool and jacuzzi.
My Wednesday(30) - It turns out that this RV park has a second pool and jacuzzi. It’s near the entrance building which also has a small store and deli.
The last shop I called that had mobile mechanics, mentioned that they could do the job but are based out of Las Vegas so there would be about some significant travel time. I found another business that had a mechanic out of Kingman, AZ. We’ll see how they do. Since we wanted the job done quickly, Bridget is driving into Henderson, NV, to pick up the part. This means a second trip to get our core deposit back.
She mentioned bumper-to-bumper traffic near the casinos in Laughlin due to a Trump rally but called back later that traffic had cleared up and she should be able to make it to the CAT shop before it closes.
In the short video you can see that the water pump bearings and seals are shot.
Looks like not a bad fix. Went well?
ReplyDeleteCould be better. The mechanic only spoke broken English and it seemed like he’s never worked on one of these engines before. Just my impression. He’s returning today to reinstall the pump.
DeleteYou have become quite the RV nomads, Richard. Enjoy the seemingly warm weather and the jacuzzi, and the freedom to roam. Meanwhile Germany is going back to temporary lockdown...
ReplyDeleteWe are heading south and east towards TX again. We will be stopping in AZ before heading east. New Mexico is still locked down with a two week quarantine requirement. We can pretty much make it through without stopping into Texas.
DeleteSorry about your pump issue, we are waiting for our replacement slide lock to be delivered today, and it will be installed most likely tomorrow. I'm surprised to hear about the NM quarantine period, I don't think it was in place when we were there in early October. Good luck with repairs and continued travel!
ReplyDeleteWell, it is what it is. The pump is a wearable part and the RV is 15 years old. Hopefully this’ll be the last repair for a while...
DeleteAmen to that last statement!!!
DeleteBummer about the water pump RichardM! Here's hoping its the last repair that engine needs till next year at least, two years would be better. As to hindsight being 20/20....so true....am dealing with a busted water pipe due to the recent cold snap/snow and had I been thinking...I could have avoided what will doubtless be a big plumbing bill. Oh well, at least I caught it within 5 minutes of the break happening.
ReplyDeleteThere’s always hope...
