We decided to stay in Bakersfield an extra day as there seems to be cooler weather heading this way. Plus, after the hectic day at Yosemite, a "non-tourist" day seemed like a good idea. We ran a couple of errands today such as groceries and getting the oil changed in the truck. I had considered changing it myself but I didn't want to deal with disposing of three gallons of oil. Plus, most RV parks prohibit any kind of mechanical work including oil changes. Given the chances for a spill, it seems like a reasonable policy,
Yesterday afternoon I discovered that the right turn signal on the trailer wasn't working. Checked the bulb, it was fine. This morning I dug out the test light and the right turn voltage wasn't at any trailer connector (there are three). After looking in the fuse box, the truck has separate fuses for each of the trailer circuits independent of the lights on the truck and the right turn fuse was blown. The ohm meter verified that it wasn't a short in the trailer wiring. For now I just replaced the fuse. I'll be checking more often as there may be an intermittent short. I hope not as those are hard to trace.
Another afternoon of sitting by the pool typing a blog post using BlogTouch Pro on the iPhone. The app works fine though I don't like the way it deals with photos so I just use it for text and add any pictures later using the laptop. Tomorrow we start heading east.
Good thing you are so mechanically inclined and can chase down any gremlins that come about.
ReplyDeleteI can do with no more gremlins...
DeleteIntermittent shorts....urgh. Did someone let you know the right turn signal wasn't working or did your turn indicator flash faster than normal?
ReplyDeleteSomeone flashed their lights when I changed lanes to the right. Then flashed their turn signals.
DeleteAs you head east is the Grand Canyon one of your planned stops?
ReplyDeleteThe 8-day delay in Redding made us cut some things out and AZ and NM were cut out of this trip. But it may have been too hot to enjoy it much anyway.
DeleteLooks like a happening general store with all the amenities. :)
ReplyDeleteI think that if you come here as part of a large group you can use the "general store" as a meeting place...
