Not Much Color

Since black, white and grey were ruled out as valid colors for the Color the Season Challenge, there was little else to do but look outside of nature. It seems that around here at this time of year, there is very little natural occurring color except sunrise and sunset. Maybe that is why some, including us, opt to hang lights from the eaves of our houses. This particular Christmas tree has been lighting up the hallway in my building for about a week and it does brighten things up.

This is one other color that many are happy to see out in the parking lot. This is the neon glow from the triple outlet tap on my bike plugged into the extension cord to the outlet for the parking space. This means that the outlet you're plugged into is actually working and there is a chance that your vehicle may start after spending all day in the parking lot. Right now, all I have running on it is the 25W silicone heat pad on the oil pan and a 50W pad next to the battery. Which reminds me, I need to move the heat pad from the motorcycle battery to the car battery in the sidecar.

Right now, my office smells like gasoline. On Wednesday evening, I drained more gas from the tank to check for water (yes, there was more water) and forgot to reconnect one of the hoses to the right carburetor. This morning, some gas spilled on my riding pants and jeans. Now I get to smell like a gas station for the rest of the day.

  1. I can relate to there being not much for color this time of year. About all I can see when I look outside is snow and gray/brown leaf-less trees. Add a few gray squirrels, some crows and a few deer. Not much color...

    1. Yep, not much at all but you seem to have found some. I didn't even think of the flagging as that stuff seems to be everywhere and no one knows what they are for.

  2. See, you found some color. I like the outlet tap glow. It provides warmth, visually as well as practically.

    1. You could look down a row of parked cars and see the little orange glow all the way down.

  3. I've been in Wisconsin long enough that when I read "triple outlet tap" I thought: Triple Outlet Tap! Like the name of a tavern!

I always notice the loss of the light when a Christmas tree is taken down. Nothing seems to brighten up a space like a glowing ornamental tree. I like your glowing outlet light. It's like a night light. Amber is a gorgeous light. See how easy it is to find warm colors in the winter!

Thanks for joining the color challenge!

    1. Our Christmas lights always seem to stay around for quite a while. They MAY get taken down when it warms up but they usually stay plugged in until there is a significant amount of daylight.

  4. Richard:

My world has no colour. You can imagine how frustrated I am in not being invited to join in the festivities.

I also check my battery tenders for the green LEDs to make sure my tenders are working

    1. You're always invited to the festivities but the question is whether or not you decide to join...

  5. Don't you just hate it when gas gets spilt onto your boots from the carbs in one way or another? :)

    1. You can say that again! And this was a cup or two running onto my riding pants and onto the engine. This afternoon, more water in the carbs!

    1. No plug-ins at the KW police station, eh. You need to demand it as an employee benefit!

Much cheaper to heat a house than to cool it down.

  7. They may not be found in a nature but I can see how they would brighten your day. So that is a win.

    1. It's nice to see the warm amber glow suggesting that your vehicle may actually start at the end of the day. But still not the color I was searching for...

  8. I can only imagine the comfort of those lit power strips. Even here, knowing the flow of electrons is keeping 'necessaries warm provides comfort.

We lived in a mobile home while Peg and I built the house. The lights on the heat tapes provided contentment that not everyone would appreciate.

    1. I almost forgot about the under house heat tape. With our current house, none needed though the water line from the well froze once just after we moved in. It was easily thawed and hasn't frozen again since we let heat from the garage warm a small crawl space.

  9. Brrrrrrrr! Winter is well and truly everywhere (except Vancouver). Even Bethlehem got a meter of snow.

    1. I saw pictures of the pyramids covered with snow in my Twitter feed. The oscillations of the jet stream are getting larger and larger every year. Some say that it is being driven by the melting polar ice cap. Interesting discussions...
