Day 26 - Del Valle, TX - HH

This evening, we stopped at a Harvest Host location for the night. It’s a peach farm that also has a few animals. We purchased several bottles of their jams including an orange with serrano pepper. Very tasty. Someone mentioned that it was really good with chicken. I believe that I may need to try that. We aren’t quite level so I didn’t try to use the leveling jacks or put out the large slide.

Over 300 miles today and only 154 miles tomorrow. I filled up again using the TSD Logistics program and saved another $32. The net price for diesel was $2.002/gal with their discount. I wish I had their card earlier.

The campfire is at the Harvest Host farm. There were two camper vans in addition to us. Very relaxing.

  1. The campfire looks so inviting. I’m getting the camping bug! But in our van or the Vanagon. No tents lol

    1. The farm was a nice place to stay. And it was a great campfire. He had a whole truck bed full of some hardwood that was labeled as “free campfire wood” by one of his neighbors.

  3. So nice! We haven't had much luck with HH here in CA so far. They are gathered around wine country, but not really in the major paths of travel. We found one we were going to use in Paso later this month, but it turns out they have spring events that use their parking field, so they don't accept HH stays again till mid-April. Boo.

    1. We enjoy staying at then enough to change our route to be able to stay at them. So far, no negative experiences.

  4. We have had good experiences in the past, and were going to change our route to stay in Paso, but alas, they are closing off during our trip. We'll definitely try again.
