Trip From Anchorage

It has been a beautiful day for the ride back to Fairbanks. It was still around freezing north of around Talkeetna but once I was north of the entrance to Denali National Park, the snow disappeared from the sides of the road and it warmed up considerably.
Mt. Mckinley was out with no clouds.

This is about 15 miles south of Cantwell looking west.

Looking south.

Looking north. This is a beautiful part of the road but it was windy.

While getting ready to leave the UAA campus, a young visitor happened to pass by. Better here than on the road.

this must be the NEW YOU. You nearly have more photos than words. You've outdone yourself, you actually stopped and snapped some photos. Nice blue skies and can't spot any snow on the ground and the snow is where it should be, high up on those big hills

    1. I had stopped a couple more times but didn't have my phone handy. I was focused on temperature i.e. too cold, too hot or thirsty. And by the time I thought about pictures, I was all set to go again.

  2. Well done, Richard. You captured the vastness of the landscape well. Thanks for stopping and taking the time to take pictures.

    1. I think that I am usually disappointed that my pictures rarely capture what I am seeing. For example, the picture facing south has the top of Mt. Mckinley showing above the closer range but the depth is lost in the picture.

  3. Great pictures Richard. I am glad you had some sunshine and the snow disappeared from the side of the road. Mt McKinley looks beautiful against that blue sky.

    1. The snow mostly disappeared but it was only 34°F for much of the day. But it was still a wonderful ride, right about 365 miles and was home before 5:00. On all of the trips I've been on between Anchorage and Fairbanks, this was one of the best views of McKinley.

    1. It's getting to be pretty warm here in the interior (of Alaska) and I went for a ride this morning and didn't even bother with a liner. It was almost 70°F! I just ran some errands and one errand involved a washboard covered dirt road. Not fun...

    1. I think that is my favorite as well. Compared to Tuesday, there was a lot of traffic and quite a few bikes as well.

  6. good to see you had a good ride day with such great views!

I'd recommend taking photos first when you just stop the bike. use the optical zoom if you have it to get closer to the mountains.

    1. Unfortunately, the only camera I had with me was my phone. I didn't even think about taking another camera as I was just going to Anchorage. Plus, when I left, I was more concerned with the road conditions.

Good advice about taking photos first...

    1. The return trip was near the perfect temperature for me. And the blue skies made for a wonderful trip.
