Merry Christmas

Bridget received an inflatable kayak last Christmas but this is her first opportunity to try it out. We are at a small lake that is part of the Chena Lakes flood control project. We had inflated it in the garage just to make sure we knew we had all the bits and pieces. It is a Sea Eagle SE-370 two man kayak designed for lakes and calmer rivers though the manufacturer claims it’s rated for class III whitewater. Me, who can’t swim, will pass…

  1. You never learned to swim?! Never to late to learn....

    1. Actually did but don’t enjoy it at all…

Passing a swimming test was a requirement in college.

  2. My uncle was a sailor, and he never learned to swim. He always said... it's quicker that way... (he never actually said it but I guess he meant the drowning part). He is beyond his 80s and still alive by the way...

I am not fond of inflatable kayaks, as kids my brother and I were in the middle of a lake when it lost air, and sank... we were able to make it to the shore though, the water was knee-deep, we waded to the beach, and we saved the boat, too.

  3. We have a Sea Eagle two-man also...not sure of the model number. Did she like it? We have ours here now but haven't used it yet. Too many toys 😉

    1. This was the SE-370 and she now has a SE-330. BeemerGirl/Lori was looking for a kayak and tried this one out. Bridget was thinking about getting the SE-330 as it's a bit shorter.

  4. I tried a cheap inflatable once and hated it. But it was more like a blow-up toy than a "real" Sea Eagle. Mike's body doesn't support rowing very well. Both times we've been in a craft that required rowing, he ended up with rotator cuff issues. He's not a water-lover anyway. It's a shame, because there are lots of places near here for canoeing/kayaking, but we find other ways to enjoy the outdoors.

    1. This seems to be made pretty well and has two skags to help it go straight.
