Winter Commute

http://youtu.be/cTcgcCYNcSc

I played around with the GoPro this afternoon and made a short video of my ride home. As you can see, not much snow. The camera is mounted to the turn signal stalk so there is a lot of glare from the left signal. This was shot about 20 minutes after sunset. I have a pretty low stress commute...

  1. That is some rush hour you have to drive in. Thanks for taking us on the ride home!

  2. This is fabulous, Richard! It's just what I needed to take the edge off my anxiety before work.

I love how you are floating in the clear blue; it's almost surreal. And the music is wonderful. I loved the orange of your turn signal in all that blue, too. Thank you for making this and sharing it.

    1. I like the evening sky color as well. The music is from Google's free music library.

  3. I remember that route....roads look pretty clear. I like the refraction/reflection pattern on the street lights.....kind of looked like flying lights zooming overhead as you passed. LINK

    1. The roads are really clear. There are some slick spots. Right after your frame grab, you can see the framing shift a little as the rig slid in the corner.

  4. What a relaxing commute, the ride seems almost surreal with the fading light, like Martha said. I like the gopro position. Well done, Richard. Looking forward to more 'road movies'.

    1. Thank you. A little bit of gravel to the back entrance of the university helps make it even more relaxing. After 5, the traffic picks up but it's not like an urban commute.

  5. As others have said, the lights and colors magic. I like your shadow appearing/fading. Very nice Richard and yes, I'm looking forward to more!

    1. The music did seem to add to the video. Better than the mechanical sounds from the engine. I was waiting for a nice snowy day but they just haven't been happening.

  6. Nice ride. 10F at 4pm with gathering darkness could almost pass for central Pennsylvania. Watching the road unfold is pretty hypnotic and the music just exaggerated the effect. Thanks for sharing this view of Alaska.

    1. Glad you liked it. I think the sky color at this time of year is wonderful. I was just wondering if it was too dark for the GoPro.
