78°F Warmer

We were on the plane most of last night and arrived in Chicago at 8 o'clock this morning. We are staying in Naperville which is about 34 miles west of Chicago visiting our grandson. There is still some remnants of winter (snow) hanging around and not a single leaf on the trees but it is far warmer than Fairbanks. This is the Millennium Clarion in Moser Tower within Naperville. The clarion played for quite a while at 4:00pm but I don't know if that was something special or a regular, hourly occurrence.

Here is the grandson riding in the wagon on a short walk from his mom's home. He didn't stay in the wagon long as he needed to collect sticks and leaves along the way. Pretty tired after the flight and not at all sure what is planned for the next several days while here.

  1. Children are so amazing. We're looking forward to grandchildren. We're still a few years off. Enjoy your stay. Chicago is a really nice city.

    1. We are going into downtown on Sunday. Tomorrow, we are going to Detroit for the day for a concert with my wife's youngest playing. A traveling Jazz group from his music school.

  2. Welcome to the Midwest! Hope you have a good visit.

Funny you mention the sticks and leaves. When I was little it was mandatory that we pick up the sticks and branches in the yard. Wasn't fun that way...

    1. Thank you, the warmer weather is nice but it still feels cold. Higher humidity maybe?

After returning, he gave the leaves to his aunt but kept the treasured stick.

    1. Krispy Kreme, they're baked? I thought that doughnuts were fried. Well maybe not cake doughnuts...

    1. Not as balmy as the temperature suggests. I thought that there would be some signs of spring but it all still looks pretty grey and brown.

    1. He doesn't look too thrilled. Grown quite a bit since you saw him last, eh?

  6. Don't melt in all that heat! The wagon is pretty cool, but of course pretty twigs and leaves take precedence.

    1. Trying to survive the heat but it''s proving to be a challenge. The wagon even has cup holders and a door...
