Day 29 - Harvest Host Site, CA

We successfuly managed to escape Redding, CA. We didn't really venture very far but it was a good test for the truck. It did fine. We are staying at the a farm that we located on the Harvest Hosts site. This is one of the memberships that many people have recommended and the $40/year seems to be a bargain. The hosts have space for a couple of RVs and are retired farmers who enjoy meeting people. This spot is paved with power and water. Not at all what I had expected. This is our first experience with Harvest Hosts and it definitely will not be the last.

It is a bit warm here in the central valley but that was kind of expected.  I did make a point of completely filling the water tank, stopping for fuel and going to a Cat scale at the truck stop. You pull up on the scale with the steer axle on one platform, the drive axle on the next platform and both trailer axles on the next. Up until now, I was guessing on the weight on each of the axles to guess on what air pressure I should be running in each tire. My guesses were close enough. The GCVW is just over 19,000 lbs. I had figured that we were under 20k.

    1. Truck is fixed, it's running good. And there is way too much traffic here in California!

  3. Harvest hosts, never heard of them but they sound a bit like couch surfing for RV's. Cool! Glad you're on the road again.

  4. Wow, what a great experience with Harvest Hosts! Most of the ones we've come across had no services, just boondocking, but usually pretty locations and farms or wineries to enjoy.

    1. No complaints with any so far. I was shocked that they had s parking pad. Their caretaker had a 5th wheel that was parked there originally.
