Another Video and REI Return

I moved the camera to a different location. I tied a monopod to the front of the rear rack with the camera about two feet above the sidecar. There is a more vibration with this mounting location. Not too thrilled with that. But kind of like the perspective. There hasn't been any "nice" days lately. Lots of overcast and snow flurries. This is just another commute video though I did edit it down to about a minute and went around the back of the West Ridge research facilities. Right near the end you can see the overlook parking spot where I've taken pictures of the rigs.

Today, Saturday, I ended up doing a lot of running around town and by the end of day, my feet were starting to feel the cold. It was about -3°F. One of the stops was REI to return a tent that I had picked up last May. It was a 4 man tent and after setting it up once in the garage, I thought that it was just too big. I hadn't returned it earlier since I couldn't find the receipt but the sales clerk said that I didn't need it and could return it anytime within a year. Pretty impressive return policy.

No drivability changes from changing the pilot jet from 45 to 42. Still no "popping" when first started. The enricheners get turned off after ~15 seconds versus under 5 so I'd say that it is running a little bit leaner. Hopefully, the gas mileage will improve. According to the Internet, the pilot jets provide the fuel from idle to about ¼ throttle.

  1. I like the position of the camera so as it is more informative it is less mesmerizing than the other snowbound film. I would miss the sun.

    1. I think after 32 years, I'm kind of used to not a lot of sun in the winter.

  2. I mount a tripod onto the spare tire rack....works for me.

    1. I thought that the monopod would stand out less but it was harder to mount securely. I may try the tripod later as I like the higher perspective.

  3. This perspective is just like being in the monkey seat. I don't find the vibrations too bad. I am sure you will soon end up choosing different location on one ride.

I wonder if a certain other Uralista will get snow envy by now.

    1. I guess I'm looking for the ideal for a single camera. Maybe having multiple perspectives would be less boring.

I'm sure that certain other Uralista has more than enough snow after today.

    3. That is sounding a little bit like "snow envy"...

We have been getting a couple of inches almost every day for a while.

  4. I agree with everyone else, like the new view. What I noticed most is how bright your headlight is. I wish mine was brighter.

    1. This is a replacement H4 Hella headlight. Same wattage but a much better beam pattern. Street legal for use in motorcycles only. (One headlight) Plus I have the LED fog lights on as well. You can see that the LED and halogen lights have different colors.

  5. I didn't think the vibrations were too bad and I enjoyed the new perspective.

One of the things i appreciate about REI is their return/exchange policy. As long as you used your member number when you bought it, no receipt required.

    1. I always knew that they had a great return policy but I thought that you needed to keep the receipt. The tent has been sitting around the garage since May.

  6. I'm late to the party! I really like the position of the camera here, too. And yes, this is a moving picture of what I what I just offered up in my blog as a You Are There photo. You win!
