Too Hot and Sunny

Obviously I'm not talking about Fairbanks. Part of our family is heading south to sunny, southern California for a family reunion as well as other unrelated activities. And, I'm not really looking forward to these temperatures nor the crowds. I was originally thinking of riding down for the reunion but I just didn't have enough annual leave to make the trip. Maybe next year will bring another motorcycle trip.

So no moto-content for a while but I should be more than ready for some Fall weather after this trip. I guess it qualifies as a vacation as it's not work related though I'm not really enthused about the location. I left southern California in 1982 because I didn't care for the area and I don't look forward to returning at all.

I don't blame you for not wanting to engage in heavy traffic. I generally stay from large cities too.

have you ever been to Locke

I try not to use hyperlinks anymore. This place has me intrigued. Wished I knew about this place last year

    1. I've heard of it before but I think it's in Northern California somewhere. I'm in Southern California outside of Los Angeles.

  2. At least you get to see some family, hopefully that will make up for the location.

Same temperatures as what we've been having - no end in sight of our 90+ degree days. Hope your mom has A/C in her house.

    1. The reunions are always fun and great visit with family. I've heard that summer has arrived up there. My mom and my sisters family are flying down tonight or tomorrow.

  3. Richard,

I am missing a family reunion this weekend because of vacation timing issues. I am not keen on heavy traffic either, too much unpredictability. I love the pic of the Ural in your blog header, very nice!

    1. Too bad for poor timing… We have family reunions on one side or the other practically every year. Keeps us busy. I think it may even be in Alaska in a couple of years.

  4. yep, riding in hot weather sucks and I avoid it if possible. summer is my winter in terms of cutting down on riding.

    1. Riding in the heat isn't fun at all. Cold and even wet is more suitable for riding.

  5. I love the west coast, at least all the parts I've seen, from LA to San Francisco, Victoria and Vancouver, up the inlet to Squamish.

Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Palos Verdes, the world's most perfect climate is in yhere somewhere.

Enjoy the reunion. Much better than getting together at funerals.

    1. Ooops... forgot Cannon Beach and the Oregon coast, not to mention Seattle and the Chuckanut.

    2. There are some nice places but you need to get out of the Los Angeles basin. Yesterday, we drove out to the coast through the Santa Monica mountains and it dropped over 25°F to a much more human tolerable" temperature. But, everyone else seemed to have the same idea and traffic along PCH was, predictably, horrendous.
