Cozy Project

Now the fun begins. It had warmed up considerably this morning (as in +16°F) and the gentleman with the Cozy sidecar attached to his R100/7 sent a text that he was separating them this morning. At noon, I went by his home and picked it up along with the DMC subframe and other hardware. Once I sort through the pieces, I will probably try and mount the subframe and contact DMC for the additional parts and pieces to connect them together. I will also need to add some additional lighting. The little orange light at the top of the fender currently serves as the front and rear turn signal and there is a small tail light on the back of the fender. Isn't this a great winter project?

The Cozy looks nice, all you have to do now is paint your Beemer White to match. Must be exciting to have a project to work on during non-riding season

    1. Maybe eventually I'll repaint but for now I am more concerned with sound engineering...

I am rarely without something to do during the winter.

  2. It's important to have a project when winter sets in.Hope you have a heated work space.

    1. Yes, I have a heated garage and it's usually warmer than outside. But when it really gets cold, ground level is still below freezing.

  3. Great plan! If you consider to paint it why not in a bright and shiny colour? Yellow? Orange?
Make sure the project gets finished before the snow is gone. I want you see making donuts in the snow.

  4. No plans to paint it at the moment. The previous owner did paint it and the paint is in really nice condition. Since the sidecar wheel isn't driven I'm thinking that donuts may not be possible anyway. But I am hoping it's done before Spring.

  5. That is awesome!! Looks like it is in nice shape. Something to slow you down so I can keep up with you. Can't wait for the build report.
I'd leave it white and put a burgundy pinstripe down the side to match your bike.

    1. I like the pinstripe idea. The existing paint job is pretty nice and he did it inside and out. Though you can't see it in this photo, it has a nice stainless rear rack on top of the trunk.

    1. The build report will be trickling in as I'm able to do things. Now I'm mounting the subframe from DMC aka Dauntless Motors. I'll need to send some of the Cozy parts down, I think, for modification as the Cozy mounts are different than the subframe.

    1. It isn't a Ural but it was local and the price wasn't bad since the subframe was included. Hopefully, I will get it on the road shortly in a few months...
