Spring?

Trobairitz offered up a challenge in a recent post called Patiently Waiting for Spring Challenge. I heard a rumor that Spring was coming but after looking at the thermometer and seeing -13°F, Spring seems as far away as ever. In fact, I'm pretty sure it won't arrive by March 21. This is a stock PhotoBooth background and given the disaster that I call my office. I figured that this may be better than reality. After capturing the photo on my laptop, the magic of Apple's iCloud made the image available on my phone so I used the "Ansel" effect within the Camera+ app. Saving the photo causes the new image to be available on the laptop again in my PhotoStream. This feature seems to be the most useful feature of iCloud. My photo's are backed up immediately as long as I have Internet connectivity.

  1. Awesome job Richard. Very creative with the Ansel effect and the background.

Are you wishing you were in a warmer climate again?

I guess I should stop complaining about our rain. We woke to more rain and 48F, seems tropical compared to -13F. I can't even imagine that cold. DO you still have snow?

    1. Yes, plenty of snow though today is another clear and sunny with 200 mile visibility....

  2. Great idea, Richard. Love the background. Why didn't I come up with this? Oh right, I had a hard time to even figure out how to make a picture with the webcam already...
I agree with Trob and stop complaining about the rain and sleet we get here... at least temperatures are bearable.

    1. We got rain and sleet back in November and they ended up canceling school due to rain freezing on the -40 degree roads...

I think I would have preferred to see your office "Disaster" area, because it looks like you have flown off somewhere warm and only teasing us with your implied -13°f temps. You're probably lying on a beach in Hawai'i

  4. Well there you go....now I know what you look like (your other pic on profile is a bit small).

Maybe spring will come quick for you....but if it anything like our summer it wont!

    1. Riding season doesn't really start until about May 1st. Even after the main roads are clear the subdivision roads still have a lot of ice and gravel.

  5. Love the thoughtful pose. Have you ever noticed that Dom has sidecars on his mind a lot? LOL

    2. Richard:

      it's word association:

      big, small
      black, white
      dom, sidecar

      know what I mean ?

  6. Love the background!! Even if it was only a backdrop, it can really help for a positive mental attitude. (Blatantly stolen from a Bond movie.)

I gotta admit, after seeing Valencia, the is something to a sidecar... Just saying. :)

    1. Maybe next year (I know that I keep saying that) as it is definitely something I want to do. But I am more inclined to get one for my existing bike as opposed to getting another vehicle. Maybe if I went "cage free" as Dom has it would be a reasonable thing to do. But I'm inclined to keep the truck.

  7. very creative/wishful photo ... spring seems to have sprung here in the east (though I just don't trust Mother Nature not to turn around and get nasty again.) The temp was +21C today at noon, but a look at the road says it isn't biking season for me yet - enough sand still left to build a castle with and the driveway is a 'sink hole' of mud. I'm still riding the SUV (with snows on)!

    1. Thank you, I thought I was just being lazy. Our Spring still means lots of snow but wonderful sunny days. Perfect for x-country skiing (which I've been enjoying). I've tried riding the bicycle a couple of times but even with studded tires, I still slip a bit. I guess I need more practice...
